speaking of safari racks.  i was driving from sacramento to san fran with
my interior panels i just got and i pull up behind a red syncro from
colorado with a for sale sign on the bakc.  i pull up really close to see
if i can see the phone number but couldn't.  anyways this syncro had a
pretty burly black safari rack that spanned the entire roof.  in great
condition with pretty thick frame.  i've been looking around for a place
that sells these for vanagons for the past couple of years and no luck.
kicked myself for not follwoing the guy off the freeway and waving him
down to make an offer on the rack.

is it most likely that it was a custom rack?  i would have easily paid 800
for this rack.
