Subject: VERY low compression in one cylinder
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Hello listees,

I've got a sick 1984 1.9L Waterboxer.

Symptoms: One cylinder (#4) regularly fouls a plug after a few hundred miles. Occasional (but not consistent) smoking (white/blue) at start-up when pulling away under power.

A compression test reveals virtually no compression (didn't rise off the needle) in the cylinder.

Diagnosis? Terminally bad rings? Stuck valve?

Thanks,

Kris S. Seago
