Subject: Oil filter problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I have an 88 GL and I had some trouble getting the oil filter off today. It was a very hard turn about half the way off and when I finally got it off I noticed that a nut was half way up the shaft. My question is, did I back the shaft part out of the engine or just the nut? Does anyone know how far out the shaft part should be sticking out and is there another nut anywhere on the car that I can use to work the two nuts and shaft back into the engine block? I’m stuck at home for the day (with a van drained of oil) and even if there was a store near by, I couldn’t get to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
