Subject: 1987 Syncro GL for sale
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII

The time has come to sell my Vanagon. I can't afford to maintain it, and Detroit is just not the area to get import work done anyway..

So here we go. This is a metallic grey 1987 Vanagon GL Syncro 7-passenger. It has unknown, likely over 150K, mileage, new heads in 1997/1998 according to repair records from previous owner), new water pump, new front brakes, five tires and wheels in good shape. All syncro bits work, as do all five forward gears and reverse. I have meticulously cleaned the upholstery, so the seats can practically be eaten off of.

Options include rear heater (works, but needs core), rear defog/mirror heaters, power passenger window (driver replaced with crank), rear bed, tach, and Heidelberg IV stereo. All air conditioning bits are present except for the compressor.

Bad stuff: rust. Michigan's notorious for it. There is rust-through in the driver's front wheelwell (minor), passenger's rear wheelwell (major, but not structural) and on the floor. It's still quite sturdy, as I've moved twice in it with no problems. The gas gauge and the speedo gear need replaced, and the exhaust requires new hangers. The engine idles high (1600rpm) when warm, and probably always has.

It's a solid vehicle; I've driven it 120 miles a day for a month or so when my primary vehicle broke down. I'm looking for $2500 or trade.
