I'm driving an 86 Vanagon with the standard 2.1L engine. As a note it has been cold (+5 down to -10) at night for a few days. So here is where I am at.

The van starts, but the headlights, front and rear wipers, and the front and rear heater blowers do not. The parking lights, 4 ways, courtesy lights, and radio all work.

Also, if I turn on the headlights and then cycle the headlight dimmer switch, and hold it on in the flash position, then everything works, at least as long as I hold the switch on. As soon as I release the switch, it all quits again.

I would appreciate any suggestions. It's cold outside and I need the accessories to work.

William Palmer Alaska
