I've done this. Brace yourself for doubling the stopping distances. Oddly enough, I didn't note all that much difference in the acceleration. I've pulled a homemade steel (heavy) trailer about the size you are looking at with a 650lb motorcycle on it without any problems or damage to the towing eyes. Just make sure you do not exceed the tongue weight of the towbar. and brake way, way in advance. Its no fun overshooting intersections.
