I just bought chains for my 87 Westy. They are the new x-cross chains they don't require backing up laying the chains down. They go on similar to cables which is from the top and give the benefit of real chains. They are the x type so way stronger than the old cross link type. (even though they seem cheap) I've used them twice and they work great. Will see as the winter progresses....
