actually i must beg to differ.. the 87 up wolfsburgs and carats all have the same interior, aside from the 89 wolfy (blue or whitestar) which was the one-off diagonal striped upholstery (im parting out a 89 wolfy if anyone needs the diagonal striped seats) the carat/wolfy grey velour seats "may" appear "darker" to some, as the check pattern is much smaller and closer than in the '87-91 GL grey velour, which has the small thin "plaid" pattern. Jon, your '86 may have the rare "black vinyl" on the back of the seatbacks, with the grey velour on the fronts of the seats. this interior was used on very few 85 and 86 GL's, before the all grey was "oficially" introduced in '87. i have only seen one of these pre-87 grey interiors ever - and it was in a flash silver 85 GL, and had the black vinyl on the seatbacks/grey velour on seating surfaces - and IIRC black vinyl doorpanels w/ the grey velour insert.. very rare... ive never seen it in a 86, but im sure it could have been offered in 86 also. the black vinyl seatback interiors werent too common.. most of the flash silver and wolfram grey 85-86 GL vans got the blue velour. anyway, does your 86 gl have the black vinyl on the seatbacks?

chris
