Boges are the stock shock for the Vanagon and they offer the ride you are looking for. They really hold up well too. Most of the time when I replace them on a Vanagon only one is leaking and the others seem to be still good (after 150k miles on my '91 Carat). Just FYI.

I am looking to replace the shocks on my 91 Carat. Now that i have my new Kuhmo tires thanks to Goldibox (Tim) i'm ready for some shocks. Which are the least stiffest? I am trying to avoid a very stiff ride. Thanks for all your help.

P.S. I took all of the advice and cruised around 6800 rpm's and had a flawless 600 mile trip over Thanksgiving. Thanks So Much!
