Subject: tire chains: cable vs chain
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

i'm going to get some tire chains for my new nokian hakk snow tires... probably overkill but i drive on lots of roads with "chain control" and the cops don't care if you have good snow tires so i need them.

what is people's experience as far as the cable vs chain issue? are cables safe for a vehicle as heavy as my fully loaded westy? will chains hurt my tires more? how likely is it that the chains will break and tear up my axle and brake lines and stuff?

thanks for any advice on this confusing issue!

Ben.
