Chris: I have owned several Westys with broken stove knob shafts. The shaft is made of brass, but has a groove cut in it for a C clip. This makes a weak spot, that breaks when someone bumps against the stove knob. Remove the other knob, the two large nuts, several screws, and sheet metal on the front of the stove, then the two small screws (usually with red lock-tight on them) securing the cap on the end of the broken valve assembly. Beware of a coil spring inside. Good luck finding a replacement shaft. Let me know if you find two; I'm still looking for a good used one.
