Scott, The '95 2.0 liter engine in my 82 Westy is using a 1.8 Golf-Jetta intake manifold and head, 2.0 dual downpipe exhaust manifold, with Motronic fuel injection. The greatest hp gains have been changing to the dual-downpipe manifold, an improvment over the earlier single -pipe design, and changing to Motronic from Digifant 2 that ran the earliier 1.8 engine I had for 8 years before I changed to a 2.0 4 years ago. Just the changing from Digifant 2 to Motronic was about a 5 hp gain. I also added a windage tray . t I haven't had a dyno test.
There is definitely more power since the change to Motronic maybe in the order of 10-15 %. The only dyno I'll see around here is the one at the emissions testing station. If anyone is considering a inline -four conversion the US 2.0 liter Motronic is a better choice than than the South African version. Robert 1982 Westfalia

Date: Wed, 10 Dec 2003 07:05:21 -0500 Robert, IIRC, you are using the later 2.0 short block with a counter flow head. From all that I have read, you may have lost as much as 10 hp off the top. Torque is rumored to stay the same. Again, I have never seen back to back dyno runs with just the head change published so this is mainly conjecture based on the superior flow of the later head. Any plans on dynoing yours?
