Have you checked the fuel pressure? The regulator can go bad and hold up
excessive fuel pressure. Mine actually blew off the fuel line by the
starter. They can get crapped up.

Subject: Ok...still running rich problem....
Hey all,
I am still having problems of a rich running condition on my digifant
fuel injection.
These are the things i have tried.... and checked..
1. Replaced temp sensor number two.
2. checked afm per bentley test... checked out ok.
3. Cleaned up ground for hall sender.
4. Checked the timing and adjusted idle.
5.Cleaned grounds under ignition coil. Plus...replaced ground strap
from cylinder head to body, that was torn.
Still having the same problems. I am going to pull the plugs tomorrow
to see if just cylinder or all are running rich.
I am now convinced that the van is running rich when cold...but also
when warm. Although the rich running condition seems worse when cold
than hot. But it i am still seeing a bit of black smoke when it's
warmed up when in neutral and i rev the engine. Again...this is not oil
smoke....but smoke from to much fuel. I can smell it.
I am sure that my hard starting of the van if it stalls before warmed
up is related to a rich running condition. Starting while the engine is
warm is also not the best...but it does start with a few cranks and a
little throttle.
So my questions are this...
1. What other grounds should i check and where are they located? I am
working outside in the cold...so the quicker i can find them... clean
them and put them back together the better.
2. Does the hall sender have anything to do with cold start? I know its
working because the van runs. But...does the hall sender in a digifant
world do anything else?
Any help would be great...
Otherwise i may have to suck it up and take it to the local VW shop....
IF there is anyone on the list that lives close to YORK,PA that has a
garage that i could use for a day to do the ground trouble shooting so
i don't have to freeze while trying... that would be wonderful. My wife
will make you yummy homemade cookies!!!
thanks,
jesse
