Well, for one thing, If there are only one or two people (who get along <g>), what good is the extra bed? Not everyone needs the sleeping space, but the storage space would be invaluable. Add in having room to stand up, (albeit less than in a Westy) and it would be a great upgrade for a standard vanagon. Its not a Westy for sure, but not everyone wants or needs to cook and wash inside. In my case it would be the perfect upgrade from sleeping in a bag, on the ground, as the 'downstairs' bed is good enough. Not everyone has the same needs, and I think that is more the point than anything else. Some folks poo-poo the idea because it doesn't give one a complete Westy, but that is not always the goal. I think some of the other mods I have seen are kind of goofy, but the diversity is what makes it fun and interesting.
