There seems to be some confusion over Mercedes van names. Either that, or they are badged differently in different markets.

The low roof Mercedes wagon (it's NOT a proper van!) has a very limited presence on NZ roads. I wouldn't touch one. What's in a name? Nothing but letters. I have an Aussie ad for the Sprinter in front of me, and it ain't the low-roof nose that I see. I can't remember the badges, but there is a number, not a name.

The horrid Eurotrash Sprinter is now being advertised on TV as the VW LT80 (yes, they are one and the same vehicle... though I dunno which company designed it).

There are quite a few cab-chassis-based Merc campers for rent here. I THINK these are James Cooks. I don't think they are Sprinter cabs.

Then there's the FWD MB100 van, whick looks like a cabover Japanese van (say a mutated Hiace), uses a 2.9 Merc diesel 5 and I bet is designed & made by Ssangyong in Korea. -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin, New Zealand 64 (3) 473-8863 <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Fossil preparator Seashell, Macintosh & VW/Toyota van nut
