I don't know, personally I find the factory HIDs produce a lot more glare, or at least more annoying glare, than standard halogens. They're brighter, the blue content makes the light scatter more, and studies have shown that the purplish color affects night vision more than the more yellow light from ordinary halogens. (And yes, I can tell the difference between blue-coated bulbs and HIDs.)
