I imported a steel Doka lid from Germany to replace my 84's plastic one, for the very reason of fire protection. It fits right on. It's in place right now. It's considerably heavier, but not unpleasantly so. And of course the Doka lid has a plywood deck screwed onto it, but remove that & it's identical to the stock van lid. I just hope it's as good for soundproofing... the van was pretty quiet with the plastic one. -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin, New Zealand 64 (3) 473-8863 <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Fossil preparator Seashell, Macintosh & VW/Toyota van nut -------------------------------------- Q: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation.
