You can slow it down considerably though. Before having the painting done, I would consider pulling the interior and taking a drive up to Windsor, ON to Krown Rust Treatment. It's a Canadian franchise that many folks here recommend. They will shoot this waxy oil into your panels and seams and it will wick its way through. It's a good idea to pull any insulation you can get to also. If you make this an annual event, you can slow the rust damage down considerably.
