I'm not the mechanic in the family but a couple months ago my dad had some coolant hose(s) replaced on our 90 as he didn't have the time/inclination to do it himself (he's a vet of the European theater, 1944-45, so he's not always up to feeling like doing these tasks anymore). Anyway, he told me last night while investigating yet another coolant leak that he noticed whoever did the work at the garage did not put the clamps on properly. Just another thing to look for if you don't do the work yourself. Fuel Line's - Filters etc to prevent leaks?
Eric, You may have a point, but replacing all the hoses and clamps is good way to make sure you inspect *every* joint and component in the fuel system... skimping here looks like a real case of false economy to me. Fuel-line replacement kit from Van-Again: $53.00 Replacement '85 Westy as nice as mine? thousands Knowing I won't burst a fuel line: priceless Tim At 02:53 PM 12/18/2003 -0500, Eric Zeno wrote: >I've never found the fuel hose to be leaking. >I have found numorous other fuel leaks. >Hose clamps >cigar tubes >plastic fuel supply hose. > >Has anyone ever seen a split or leaking "hose" > ERic > >robertmstewart wrote: > >>So even though my van is gone I really want in industrial strength solution >>to the problem for next time. >> >>The question is what¹s the best solution? >> >>Are there such things as steel reinforced hoses? >> >>Steel Braided Lines for fuel that are high pressure? >> >>Could the oil filter, oil pump, or oil line ever catch on fire as well? >> >>Robert >>NYC >> >> >> |
