Every single fuel line replacement I have ever done (80-91 Vanagons) have had hoses that were split internally. If you pull the fuel lines off of your fuel rails I can almost 100% guarantee that you will see cracking (if you have original fuel hose). Try it and see. Also the later model Vanagons leak many times because of the spring clamps (they stink and don't clamp well). I don't know how many of these later model Vanagons I have seen with leaking fuel hoses. You can feel under the hoses and feel a gummy buildup of fuel residue where it has been leaking for years and years. So if you want to drive around with hoses that could have problems that is your decision. Please don't discourage others from doing preventative maintenance that could save them from a disaster.
