Required Vanagon content: does anyone know how to clean the lens on a dash cluster (speedo and clock lenses are really fogged bad even after removing, scrubbing with hot soapy water inside and out. Can they be polished to clear them ? I have a friend who has a 2000 Deawoo Lonos with less than 40,000 on it. Its not under warranty for some reason (I am still checking on this). It doesn't start sometimes and has the check engine light on. She says there are only a few places that will touch it here in Phoenix, and she just took it to one that blasted her for 200 bucks, fixed the problem but now its back. Obviously she doesn't want to take it there again. My question: are these vehicles so "special" that you cant use a decent OBDII scanner from AutoZone or some FLAPS to determine the code and then look it up in a Chilton's or some other manual ???
