As a result of my changing employment to IBM, both Kim and I quit driving our nearly 30K miles annually each. When I figured most trips would be around town, not getting the cars up to temperature on a regular basis, I switched the Subaru at 130,000mi and the Mercedes at 175,000mi to Mobil 1. Because of the additional expense of the oil, I extended regular oil change intervals to 6000 miles, changing the filter every 3000 miles. I was already running it in both Porsches, the Bus and the Jeep for other reasons. These two articles were referenced on the Porsche list today, and are an interesting read. http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/mobil1.html http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/oil-life.html -- Best Regards, Jon B Kanas Longmont, Colorado; Cultural Center of the Universe Home: 303-678-0658 Email: kanas@qadas.com <mailto:kanas@qadas.com> Website: http://www.qadas.com/~kanas <http://www.qadas.com/%7Ekanas> AOL Instant Messenger ID: KanasColo |
