Subject: Extending Oil Change Intervals
Comments: To: mercedes@mercedeslist.com

As a result of my changing employment to IBM, both Kim and I quit driving our nearly 30K miles annually each. When I figured most trips would be around town, not getting the cars up to temperature on a regular basis, I switched the Subaru at 130,000mi and the Mercedes at 175,000mi to Mobil 1. Because of the additional expense of the oil, I extended regular oil change intervals to 6000 miles, changing the filter every 3000 miles. I was already running it in both Porsches, the Bus and the Jeep for other reasons.

These two articles were referenced on the Porsche list today, and are an interesting read.
