Subject: Replacing fuel lines
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

About a year ago I had my vanagon in to my VW dealer to adjust basic settings and replace some parts. The mechanic (a vanagon owner) suggested that as long as we were in there to replace all the fuel lines in the engine bay as a preventative measure even though there were no problems. He also suggested replacing the plastic part at the fire wall. The cost was insignificant and the labor minimal. I recall it cost me less than $40 and I decided to take his advice.

At that time I was new to vanagon ownership and most of the work was paid for by the previous owner as part of the purchase agreement. I paid for the extras like the fuel lines, a new distributor cap and rotor and a few other minor items. Since then I have learned to do a lot of my own work.

Are there any other fuel lines I should check next time I go under the van for a look see? I have too much invested in this van to risk any preventable measure.

William
