A description of how to rebuild the clutch slave cylinder by Rainer Woitok is among the post compiled in the file I created on this repair and sent to James earlier today. The file is over 7 pages long with various tips for dealing with this problem. It may not be absolutely everything as I didn't read every message, but it was based on a rather complete search of the archives.

I'll send this file to all who ask for it by 6 p.m. Sunday - will be away most of the weekend

Yes, getting the bolts off and back on the mounting bracket can be a PITA. My memory that dealing with the one closest to the engine was harder, and the reassembling was more of a problem than getting it apart. In both instances, I think it is better to attack the more difficult nut and bolt with the other one in place so that the slave cylinder is held in place for the work.

FWIW, there is about a 50/50 opinion split on the idea that you should change the master when the slave fails under the theory that they usually fail close in time. But there are many people, me included, who have had numerous slave failures with no master cylinder failure. I didn't keep count - that is just a general impression. I didn't change my master, just the slave that had failed, based on what I had read. I didn't put this discussion in the file, that is just a comment.
