Okay, this thread has succeeded at giving me the heebie jeebies. I don't know when the fuel lines were last changed on my '84 (I got it in august with 178,000 miles on it). So is this $53 kit from vanagain.com the way to go? How long will the job take me? Strangely enough, I can find the job in my Haynes manual. I guess it will be pretty self explanatory?

As far as my contribution to the fire extinguishing ideas thread... Since these Halon systems do seem rediculously expensive, what about mounting 3 or 4 of the smallish auto fire extinguishers you can buy for 20$ a piece around the engine compartment, and rigging them to a single cable pull? Then, once Bill's fire alarm system (archives: halon fire extinguishers in vanagons) has warned you of the fire, kill the engine, come to a stop, and pull the cable....
