Jeff,

At first, I looked to see what kind of fuel it used. Gasoline, LP? Then I realized ("uses warmth from your engine to efficiently heat your cab" - duh) that it has to be plumbed into the vehicle cooling system for the actual heat source.

Now, I'm confused. How can they claim 17,500 BTU when the heat source is unknown (available BTU)? Why should it be any better than the stock Vanagon or regular vehicle heater? Obviously I'm missing something important (not unusual).
