Personally, I wouldn't let my dealer touch my van. I used Ken's kit and I
know it was done right.

Thanks, jwalker. Very useful information. Of the two NHTSA Campaign
numbers
which you cited, 92V058000 and 92V058001 only the former which applies to
'90-'91 vans seems to be active. Using the NHTSA search engine, Campaign
No.
92V058001, which is applicable to vans from 1985 through 1992, is returned
as
invalid.
These two recall campaigns address the problem of cold set of the fuel
lines
which, as I mentioned previously, I have seen on Vanagon fuel systems. I
have
corrected two leaks of this type on my current van, so I am more than a
little interested in any fuel related recalls. Unfortunately, my Syncro is
an '89
and, it seems, might not be covered by any currently active recalls.
My question is; Do recalls such as Campaign No, 92V058001 expire after a
certain period or is NHTSA's search machine running at less than full
throttle?
Perhaps, more than a few of us are in line for fuel line renewal a la VW.
