I never thought there could be such a difference between oils.
Also, I've read on the list that synthetic oils tend to leak out of older
engines (through various oil seals). Don't know. My VW (dealer) garage
uses semi-synthetic oil (me thinks it's 15W40, IIRC) , don't know exactly
what that means.
You didn't mention how long could the van be parked before you started
hearing lifter noise With that Amsoil 15w40 Marine & Diesel oil. Can you
recall?
