I've heard that the diesels have less horsepower than the wasserboxer.  I
love the sound of the economy of the diesel (cheaper gas, better mileage),
but I don't think I can live with less hp than what I'm driving now ('80 AC
MT Westy).  How DO they actually compare with the gasoline models for hp?
Also, how is the reliability/ease of maintenance and repair compared to the
gas models.  For now the '80 air-cooled Westy is meeting our needs, but
cheaper may be really critical in the near future.  Getting better economy
without giving up anything would be very attractive.  Is it reasonable?

Get a Turbo Diesel.............................  I get 38/42 miles per
Imperial Gallon on the crappy English roads @ 60 mph
