Amazing how many of us are doing Vanagon E-mails on Christmas Eve. There must be other things we should be doing.

Well, I was out driving my Vanagon on Christmas Eve, and sure enough, it broke down! Went out for our traditional Christmas Eve drive with my wife, daughter and even took our Jack Russell terrier. We were about 8 miles from home when the Westy started losing power, so I turned into the first side street and it sputtered to a stop. Restarted it once, but it died within seconds. Then, very strong gas odor. Got out to find I was leaving a trail of gas on the road, looked up underneath, and the area around the right rear wheel is soaked with gas. Luckily we were in a residential area, and some nice folks drove us home. So now, today, I have to go back over and find out where my fuel line has split. There was no gas anywhere in the engine compartment. As ticked off as I was, I do realize it could have been much worse-it could have caught fire and burned to the ground. Jeff
