As a dog owner myself, I'm certainly glad to know others care as much for animals as my wife and I do.

Re: the dog - by the time we turned around to try to find it, the dog was gone! (This happened at dusk in the country on a dangerous curve and hill so we couldn't stop immediately.) There was no obvious sign of external damage to an animal "left on" the car or the road (just slight bumper moulding damage to car as what began this thread). We prayed (and do pray) that the animal made it home to receive medical attention...and no, there were no homes by the side of the road. :-(

it was someone's pet most likely, and in my eyes a hit and run of a dog/cat/pet is the same as a hit and run of a person..
