After getting the first wheel off I use penetrating oil on the studs, the bleeder valve & the brake fluid line at the wheel cyl, then I go to the other side and do the same thing. Then back to the first one. If the drum needs to be loosened a 2 lb hammer all around until it's free from the hub (breaking the rust loose). Then either ply it off with screw drivers, tap it off with a hammer or back the adjusters until I can get the drum off. Before I put it together I note what I need to do to get to the adjuster from the outside, I note what direction I need to turn it to loosen it. (I might make a note of this on the backing plate). I make sure the adjuster will turn. I make sure the emerg brake cable is free. I put the drum back on then adjust the brakes. All the way tight till the drum won't turn by hand then back it off 10 "clicks", repeat for the other side. Everything even, everything works...
