David,
I have a agree with you --- not to start a flame war here, but I thoroughly
enjoy all the info being exchanged. And, for what it's worth, I trust, but
verify anything I hear or read -- so for George to go off is a clear indication
of a lack of caffeine and/or sugar.
Oh, and for the rest on the list, I'm staring down some semi-major repairs:
1) Brake pad (front) and shoe (rear) replacement
2) CV joints replacement
3) shocks (front and rear) replacement
So, you pros out there: any tips? I've read about the CV procedure and the
front pad replacement, they don't look bad -- what about that top bolt on the
shocks? AND, with so much disassembly going on, should I even consider touching
the wheel bearings (no indication of any issue in that area).
I'm no pro mechanic, just a bit better than novice.

Is it just me or is this email considered offensive?

nice Vanagons. The voltage drop at the lights would be:
V = 15.5A x 0.5ohm ^2
V = 15.5 x 0.25
V = 3.875 . . . >>
That is one hell of an assumption. Why don't we just round the conductor
resistance off to 0.87096774194 ohms then your argument will prove that the
lights won't work at all. By the way, your calculation is wrong; the
voltage drop
across 0.5 ohms at 15.5A is 7.75 V. What bullshit.
