Hi All- The dash lights in my 91 Carat died also, on xmas eve in the snow of northern Ohio. The interior-light fuse is healthy, the headlights and all other lights work. The day after the initial failure I pulled the fuse panel down, checked evrything, replaced a few unrelated fuses and still no dash lights. Frustrated, I remounted the fuse panel and then just for kicks turned everything off and on again. The dash lights came on, dimmer worked, everything was normal. The next morning the dash lights didn't work again. Rechecked the fuses, all are ok.

My guess is that something is loose or improperly grounded. But my electical knowledge is minimal...

Any suggestions? -Tyler

Jeff, it could be the dimmer switch or the fuse. Somehow I don't believe the dimmer switch is at fault as I've never seen that part of the headlamp switch go bad but there's always something new with these vans. The dash lights have their own fuse on the '86 ~ '91 vans, earlier vans I'm not sure. You need to check all the fuses and see if there's a dead one. Happy Holidays !
