Congrats Ron, that must have been a big project. I tried the same thing in my 85 a while back. I built the motor mount system and attached it with the Esslinger adapter kit. That's about as far as I got. The van sat in that state for nearly 3 years before I sold the 2.3 parts off.

I would be very interested to know how the van handles and sits with the 550 lb lump back there. Also KEP told me the 2.3 is not good in a box because of vibration problems. I think these issues could be addressed, let us know..

PS, Show us some pics of the engine mount system if you have any!

Hello!

I'm finally finished, almost. I have successfully transplanted a Ford 2.3 liter into my 86 Vanagon and have taken my first drive around town in it. No exhaust yet so it's real loud, but the hard work is done. Next to work on raising the deck a bit.
