I would not trust the snorkel system to be 100% water tight unless you did some prep work to us. You would have to use silicone on all the joints to guarantee that it is water tight. But I think if you were in water to the point of needing the snorkel there are other things that will need more immediate attention. You ignition system for one, chances are your oil filler cap and dipstick arn't 100% water tight, crank case breather etc.

The exhaust will always be positive pressure when the motor is running so no water will get in that way. Just don't stall the motor or else it will go back in.

hey all, my syncro project is missing all the air connections from afm to snorkel. i am going to purchase one from a list member (thankyou very much!), but my question is, what is this all about? i realize it has something to do with river crossings and water not getting into the engine and such, but why and how? what are all the lines, is there a special filter that needs to be replaced. does this mean i can drive across the mississippi river without getting wet? how can the exhaust breathe properly if submerged in H2O? need some indepth explainations about this snorkel please?

BTW, i would not cross the mississippi in my syncro, but maybe the bitterroot though! thanks jason
