My "new" '91 Carat came with a defective power window on the passenger side. When I got it out, I discovered that the motor seems to be dead, and the regulator has obvious trouble. The lower cable guide was pulled loose from the frame upright (rivet missing), and I did not have enough cable slack to bring the guide back to position.

When I took the cover off the cable spool, I found that the cable was seriously kinked and that a large segment was not rolling onto the spool. It looked like a backlashed fishing reel. After I pulled the spool and unwound the cable I was able to get the lower guide back to position.

My questions are:

1. Can the cable be replaced? The current cable is too kinked to ever work?

2. Can the motor be repaired?

3. Do any of you have a good motor and regulator to sell? Vanagain lists the motor but not the regulator. Any other sources?

TIA

Jim Huskins Spruce Pine, NC
