Driving in the cold without a front blower makes even less sense. I was In Michigan, in the winter the last time I changed a vanagon blower motor. When the blower motor goes, just fix it right the first time. It's too much hassle to try a mickey mouse fix and to important to not have in the cold months. JMO.
