You have to put an intake tube on the pump and give it an "infusion", that is to force fuel in there until it has something to pump. It doesn't take much force either, siphoning works well enough, but farting around with those blasted fittings is the problem You can make a special infusion tube with an extra fitting to bolt on the pump.
