Think that the older it is, the more often you change the atf (I use redline ATF, not D4, it just says ATF; dexron 2e equivilant) and clean the screen, and replace that pan gasket (cracks in the rubber will make it run hotter), the longer it will last. Another good thing to change well in advance, is the ATF cooler, cause when that thing breaks its hell to go through. Someone was claiming that the audi same part number for the atf cooler (last letter C is one, E is another, for the part number) is stronger, but I have no way of knowing how they would know this. Calls to the dealers didn't bring any answers. I do wonder if anyone has ever switched to an air cooled atf cooler... My trannie has 190,000; needs to be rebuilt, I'm nursing it, would be in better shape if I had changed the fluid, screen and pan gasket more regularly. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
