If you have enough air, use a large impact driver. Even if the crank is not locked down solid, the pneumatic impact driver should eventually spin the bolt out. No air? Beg, borrow, steal or devise a slugging wrench. Got money? There is at least one VW specialist offering a geared torque multiplier specifically designed for the few jumbo sized fasteners found on VW's.
