That is strange.

About a month ago I had one cut for my westy at a local hardware store and a week ago I had one cut for my 7 pass at a local (of all places) electronics store that offers key cutting of all types. The one I got last week cost me $1.30. They have plenty of blanks still hanging there. In fact, they have 3 types of VW key blanks .... ones for the old beetle, the ones that are double cut (like our Vanagons) and ones for newer VWs.

If you really can't find them in your area I'd be glad to purchase one or more and send it/them to you.
