being the bozo that i are, i got to thinking ... wondered if i could find any buses out there that came off the assembly line together. well, not too many folks like the idea of sending their vin out over the list, or even to somebody like me, so i decided to see what i could find from the want ads on the internet. not too many ads even had the vin .. but now and then, several in www.traderonline.com or www.thesamba.com did. so i started keeping the vins and other info about the bus in a spreadsheet.

<drum roll>

found two that are sequential.

now, oddly enough, they are both automatics. both are orly blue metallic (that figures ... cheaper to paint a string of buses the same color than to change the paint in the paint shop for every bus). one is a camper and the other one ...well ... some dealers give you more info that others. it might be a camper, or it might not be ... hard to tell from the price.

but both are in los angeles, california area. but i suppose that could be logical, too ... load up a boat with buses for the west coast, send it through the panama canal, and first place it's gonna dock? LA.

anyway, i thought it was kinda interesting. at first, i thought it was the same bus, just being resold at a different dealer. but the vins are slightly different in the check codes.and the miles are different. 1990 Vanagon GL (camper?), Orly Blue Metallic, automatic transmission, 113,000 miles, WV2TB0255 LG 119675 1990 Vanagon Camper GL, Orly Blue Metallic, automatic transmission, 55,000 miles, WV2TB0257 LG 119676

how bout that. :) unca joel
