My 85 GL with manual tranny and 1.9L WBX got 205,000 miles on it and never a transmission problem. On the other hand, my 88 GL now has about 120,000 and I have been in the tranny twice.

Go figure.

I never had but two problems ever with my 85 GL.....I had to replace the power steering rack right after I bought it.... and it lasted until I sold the van. And I blew a water pump right at 200,000 miles.

But this 88 GL....Geez!! The short of it is I have had the whole gamut of problems, each one a new one to me, except for the tranny, which was done twice. But now that I have gone trhough virtually everything, I don;t have any trouble with it at all if any. Niggling stuff mostly.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
