Subject: Bush Bumper Design Questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
We're on our 2nd prototype front Bush Bumper for the Vanagon. It is
designed to compliment our rear bumper that we currently sell. In order to
get more of a feel for what people want I would like it if you could answer
these questions for me.
- Would you want the front bush bumper more for looks or for function?
- Would you want to be able to install a 8000lb winch on it?
- What make of winch would you most likely install?
- Would you want to pull actually pull 8000lbs with a winch?
- Would you want a 2.0" trailer hitch receiver on it?
- Would you want to have D rings on it?
- Would you want to have rallye lights on it?
- What make of rallye lights would you most likely install?
- Would you want to have rallye lights AND a winch on there at the same
time?
- Would you want to have a skid plate that attaches to the bush bumper
(making the original spare tire inaccessible)?
- Would you be interested in protecting the area around the signal markers?
- Would you be interested in protecting the main headlights?
- Would you be willing to drill holes into the frame?
- Would you be willing to remove the factory tow hook for a better fitment?
- Would you be willing to make a slight body alteration to get a better
approach angle?
- What would be the maximum you would pay for a bush bumper?
- Would you be willing to pay more for customization?
- What would be the maximum you would pay for shipping?
This weekend we are making the final product and a jig so that we can
assemble multiple units. The design will be fairly close to the design that
is on our Syncro Westfalia Joker - see
http://www.fastforward.ca/gallery/0603biglittle.jpg. Our will be made a
little different so that a winch can be installed and also give us a better
approach angle.
Lots of questions, but, lots of stuff to consider when building one of
these - especially for other people. Of course, give me a list of things
you would also do that I didn't mention above.
I look forward to your responses.
Thank you!
