Well, after reading the other replies, I am going to assume you are serious :). Do what I did, and remove the upper bunk completely, cover the area with thin indoor/outdoor carpet, put some screw-eyes around the edges and use it for storage. Use bungee cords hooked to the screw-eyes to hold things in place. I've used it for folding chairs, boogie boards, and a shallow box full of spares.
