There is one path which is far less onerous: buy an ECU with the necessary
part number and carefully remove its sticker.  Then . . . you know where this is
headed.  Sort of that two wrongs making a right mentality.  Of course,
something like that is likely in violation of the law of the land on the federal
level, but, without joking in the least, the federales really don't care what you
do as long as you pay your taxes.

Since Californians seem so ardent in enforcing emission standards, perhaps
the state attorney general's office could help in what appears to be less than
fair treatment of a consumer.
