Chris: the point might be to make the vehicle quieter, warmer, shorter (those few inches are critical so some doorways) more secure. Worth less to whom? Perhaps not to the owner, who is proposing such a change. And it is his decision to make, no one else's! At one time they made something called hardtop westies. Sold a hell of a lot f them, too.
