This isn't science on my part but is fact as close as I can determine: the I4 head is about 6" above the 'boxers, and the top tank on the radiator is about 14-16" above the I4 head/water jacket. I agree with David's assessment having bled both my '91 'boxer and current I4, even though there are a lot of hoses in the engine bay.
